CONCEPT
Embark on an evocative journey with classical masterpieces—Winged Victory of Samothrace, Venus de Milo, David, and Discobolus—from fleeting and unconventional angles, transcending typical views. This series captures momentary glimpses, deviating from customary presentations, to explore the enchanting beauty in these transient perspectives. As the sculptures transition through angles, meanings, and commonalities emerge, creating a continuous cycle of diverse interpretations. The title "Transient Gaze" reflects the ephemeral nature of viewing and alludes to the transient connections and profound meanings generated in each passing moment.
This series was crafted to support the “Scan the World” initiative. The initiative encourages individuals and institutions to contribute 3D scans of cultural heritage items, allowing people to access and recreate these objects through 3D printing.

MOODBOARD
This is the mood board I put together for inspiration. I plan on choosing the color red for this series, and by doing so, I aim to transform the traditional narrative associated with classical sculptures. Departing from the warmer, earthy, and beige tones often linked to the classical aesthetic, the infusion of red introduces a bolder and attention-grabbing quality. This deliberate color choice seeks to provoke a dynamic and contemporary exploration of these timeless masterpieces, encouraging viewers to perceive classical art in a new and vibrant light.
Notes from the help session on 03/08/24, Friday:
- The concept is good; Professors Dom & Brandon responded well and had no particular suggestions.
- Be careful of the motion being too fast; you don't want it to disorient anyone.
- If this is projected onto huge walls and digital screens, there will also be a loss of quality and detail since it involves light projection.
- Think of the viewer experience.
- The deadline is not set and may be extended.
- The correct codec to render is present in room 114 or will be in one of the classrooms in Monty.
- The file is pretty heavy.
- Work on getting 1920 x 1080 res. If higher, it's good for my website.
- Use the latest template to set up the work.
- The submission link will be updated later, so don't worry about that now.
