STORY:
Evelyn is a narrative that draws inspiration from the timeless theme of Death and the Maiden. It unfolds as we follow the journey of Evelyn and her poignant encounter with the embodiment of Death, often referred to as the 'scarlet king.'
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
This short film emerged from my exploration of the Death and the Maiden concept, a theme I encountered during my dissertation research on the Personification of Death years ago. Originally intended as a component of my academic work, I chose to expand upon the concept, transforming it into a captivating short film.
The film will be richly adorned with metaphors and symbolism, narrated in the evocative format of visual poetry. Evelyn's rendezvous with the 'scarlet king' serves as a poignant exploration of how she grapples with the inevitability of death. In this process, subtle yet revealing glimpses of her fears and concerns surrounding the event unfold.
Sources of story inspiration:
Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Masque of the Red Death.
